We went to see the most celestial river we have ever seen, submerged in the forest with hot springs right at the foot of the Rincón de la Vieja Volcano ... we are talking about Sensoria, an incredible place that is worth visiting.

How to get there?

We took Route 1 to Upala where we turned right and continued to our accommodation at Finca La Anita

We left for Upala very late, we ate halfway through and arrived after 11 pm, very tired ... luckily we slept deliciously at Finca La Anita. This is a super nice lodging, it has several cabins near the forest and some beautiful gardens.

The next day we got up to have breakfast at La Anita and we went to Sensoria which is 45 minutes away along a path with a view of the Rincón de la Vieja volcano, the road is ballast with some parts of loose stone but in our car that is simple traction there was no problem.

When we got to Sensoria they welcomed us with a nice meal and after explaining a couple of things we started walking towards the first stop.

We had not even walked 300 meters when we reached the most impressive platform I have ever climbed with stairs like a suspension bridge that reached a tree house. From here you can perfectly see the Rincón de la Vieja Volcano and we stayed for a long time.

Then we continued to the Pénjamo River waterfalls, we walked about 1 hour through a super dense forest with giant trees. On the way we ran into several Bocaracá snakes that were next to the road until we reached the first waterfall.

The blue Pénjamo river is perfect, the temperature is ideal and the waterfalls together with the forest make Sensoria a special place.

Then we went down to another waterfall below with a larger pool of the Pénjamo river itself, it also has more area to sit down to enjoy and eat something.

To finish our trip, we visited 3 perfect thermal pools surrounded by wild jungle. In the last one we ate some fruits before going down to the Sensoria restaurant for lunch.

After lunch we went back to Finca La Anita to have dinner and rest until the next day when we had scheduled a cocoa tour on the farm.

The next day after breakfast we went with the owners to learn about the history of the farm. This farm has more than 600 cocoa plants and exports to Canada and Europe.

We also learned about different varieties and ate chocolate in all its forms, flavors, aromas and combinations.
