We started our day by taking a taxi to meet the "Local Adventures" minibus and continue our journey to the parking lot of the Nevado de Toluca where we finished getting ready to get on another truck that takes us along the 4×4 road to the beginning of the trail at 4,000 masl.

The day was super clear and windy, we started walking this wide, arid and dusty trail slowly, the oxygen is scarce and it is key to stay hydrated to avoid altitude sickness.

From where the truck left us, we walked 10 minutes to see the 2 lagoons... to the right, the Sun Lagoon and to the left, the Moon Lagoon. The landscape is super crazy, it's like walking on the moon. After the first viewpoint we begin to descend towards the Laguna del Sol and then begin the ascent to the top of the Nevado del Toluca.

When we reached the other side of the lagoon we stopped to eat something and gain strength for the climb that leads to the top. This slope is made of very loose stone, it is essential to use trekking poles, a helmet and to be very careful every step you take because you can slip.

When we finished climbing the first part of the hill we reached the ridge, and the weather began to change to cloudy with wind. We climbed the last 100 m and reached the top! A cool place at 4,680 meters above sea level, the view is from another planet and every step is worth it. The wind hits hard, you have to protect yourself with a good thermal jacket and windbreaker.

After reaching the top, we went down very carefully from behind until we returned to the parking lot… we slept in the minibus until we reached the little hotel.
