We went to rediscover the Central Pacific area where we did an ATV tour, got surf lessons and visited the Miró viewpoint, the best one in Jaco ... and all in less than an hour and a half from San Jose.

How to get there? From San José take route 27, then you have to exit at Jacó. For ‘Vista los sueños’ you have to turn left at the intersection of the Herradura Automercado and drive for 5 minutes until you arrive. For Selina, you reach the center of Jacó and you have to go turn at the Banco Popular entrance and go to the end of the street. The Miro viewpoint must be entered at the entrance just in front of the gas station that is in Jaco before climbing the hill.

After stopping to get a couple of snacks on the minimarket at Herradura, we continued to our first stop at Vista Los Sueños where we parked and checked in to do our little tour around the block.

Vista Los Sueños

For this ride we put on our safety equipment which was glasses and helmet, they also recommended us to wear a mask to avoid swallowing all the dust. The route begins with a ballast street and then you enter a private estate where the road becomes cooler while you climb up to the viewpoint up the mountain. The view from the top is amazing, ideal for a selfie and drinking some water.

After going down the mountain we went into a nice forest with a ravine which crosses several times until the end to a point where the stables are left. This is the cool part that we did not expect when we got off the ATV and started to hike along the river we reached a waterfall where we were able to bathe. After that, we went back to the operations base of Vista los Sueños to take a cool look at some of the photos we took along the way.

Selina Jacó

Lunch hour arrived and we went to Selina Jacó, where we had our reservation so we got there in 15 minutes and arrived straight to eat ceviche. At Selina, we already knew that we will have some cool accommodations and a spectacular meal to recharge batteries and continue our adventures.

After lunch, we napped for 1 hour and then got ready to do our Surf class with the sunset in the background. The surf class includes how to stand on the surfboard taught by Andrés Rangel, he is a Venezuelan dude who teaches all of these crazy tricks very well and manages to make even the clumsiest person stand on the board.

When we returned from the water, we cooled down for a while with some cold drinks and then had dinner and then rested for the next day.

“Miro” the famous viewpoint

On Sunday after breakfast, we got ready to go back, but from Selina's staff recommendation we went to Miró, this is a very popular public viewpoint on the mountain and we knew of its existence from the photos we have seen lately on the web. It’s not difficult to get there at all, just use waze and go. Many people do it walking from below to enjoy more of the tour under the shade of the trees and the view is incredible.

Halfway down the road is the first lookout on the right (you won’t get lost), it is a structure of graffiti columns with the view of Jaco. Even so, we recommend you to continue to the next viewpoint that is turning left at the next intersection, there you will reach the main viewpoint which has the structure of what would be a restaurant submerged in the forest.

This spot is crazy, it has two floors and many corners to discover. So if you are in the area do not hesitate to check out this place.
