We started our day in Bajos del Toro, we went to the little town and I asked for a ‘gallo of arracache’ and then continued driving to our meeting point with the guides. It turns out that the starting point is the same as the Las Gemelas waterfall we had visited a couple of years ago, so the road became quite familiar.
The first part of the hike is on a dirt road (it was dry since it’s summer), then you pass a shortcut through forests and then it takes you back to the dirt road. Also, you cross several small rivers where the water does not reach your ankle if they try not to get wet by going over the stones but it is quite possible that you’ll end up getting ever wetter.
Then you have to deviate to the right in the same paddock of the Las Gemelas waterfall but after going down part of the muddy way you have to follow another path which is not the most visible, and after about 20 minutes you reach the Celestial waterfall.
The last part of the trail to get to the waterfall is quite steep, but nothing impossible, little by little you hear the sound of the river until sudden boom! You come across the beautiful light blue waterfall.
All waterfalls are cool, but this one has an exuberant, refreshing and delicious x-factor that triggers a series of euphoric behaviors…
After swimming and taking all the pics, we got ready to return to the other way to another waterfall that we will tell you about next week. The good thing was that on the way back we stumble upon any rain and we went straight to the center of the town of Bajos del Toro to eat and change our clothes to drive back to San Jose.
Date of the trip: March 2019
