🛬 From San José to Golfito in Just 45 Minutes

Our day started at 5:30 a.m. with a flight from Juan Santamaría Airport.
In less than an hour, we were landing in Golfito, surrounded by green mountains and the stunning Golfo Dulce.
Without a doubt, flying is the best option if you want to make the most of every minute in this paradise.

Upon arrival, a shuttle took us directly to Marina Bahía Golfito, an incredible oceanfront complex that blends luxury, nature, and Costa Rican hospitality at its finest.

🍽️ Breakfast with an Ocean View

The best way to start the adventure was with a traditional breakfast at La Playa, the restaurant inside Marina Bahía Golfito.
While enjoying delicious gallo pinto and coffee, we were surrounded by a dreamlike view—the marina, Golfo Dulce, and the lush tropical rainforest.

The marina is a perfect spot to relax and explore, featuring a charming village with shops, a café, and an ice cream shop (Pops).
You can also rent kayaks or paddleboards to experience the gulf from a different perspective.

🐬 Sailing Among Dolphins in Golfo Dulce

After breakfast, we set off on a boat tour with our captain, José.
Just 10 minutes offshore, bottlenose dolphins started jumping near us.
But the best surprise came 20 minutes later—a massive pod of spotted dolphins swam alongside us for several minutes, treating us to an unforgettable show.

Later, we dove into a reef known as the "Underwater Trail."
Snorkeling in its crystal-clear waters felt like entering another world—colorful fish, vibrant corals, and the sensation of being inside a natural aquarium.

🏝️ A Private Paradise Just for Us

To end the morning on a high note, we arrived at Playa Cativo, a hidden beach surrounded by palm trees, with water as clear as a swimming pool.
There was no one else—just the sound of the waves, the breeze, and the feeling of being in a private paradise in the heart of Golfo Dulce.
We enjoyed some delicious fresh fruit and incredible nachos.
It was a place filled with peace.

After the tour, we checked into Amaka Ocean Living Lodge, an intimate oceanfront retreat located within the marina.
This hotel offers a unique Costa Rican hospitality experience, with delicious cuisine and world-class amenities.
The rooms were a perfect 10/10—we’re still dreaming about the shower!

We had all our meals at La Playa, which is also part of the marina.
Every dish was better than the last—it was truly a culinary experience.

🌅 A Magical Sunset to End the Day

To wrap up the day, the marina had one more experience planned for us—the Sunset Bliss Tour.
We boarded a boat once again to witness the sunset over the waters of Golfo Dulce.

It was pure luxury—cheese platters, delicious food, and a glass of wine.
The perfect combination to say goodbye to the sun and Golfito with a movie-like sunset over the water.
