Just 30 minutes from San José is this place at the top of the Carpintera mountains in Cartago. We went through Patarrá, which is the closest, although there is a bit of a rough area in the neighborhood, but everything is fine. The best way through the landscape is to arrive through El Guarco.

We arrived at the farm after 9 am. The road to get there has beautiful views so don’t hesitate to stop to take photos. When we arrived at the farm we came across a sign on the gate and an entrance through a gravel road in very good condition until we reached the parking lot where we got ready to go for a walk along the paths of the place.

After going to the reception we started walking with Don Keko who took us to see the farm.

The trails are in the shade with some sunny parts, it does not have steep slopes and it is perfect for beginners. Something we liked is that they are well marked and very well made.

During the tour we pass by a viewpoint with an epic view of San José and the hills of Escazú. Then we continued through the forest and came across some steps that lead to a photogenic door hidden among the trees. The door of the enchanted forest, a part full of awesome pine trees.

Arriving at the end of the route, we passed through another small red door that looks like the house of an elf, so it is also another fun spot for photos.

When we finished we took advantage and stayed having a picnic (they don’t sell food there and the water is not drinkable) at the little tables in front of the cabin, happy and grateful to have discovered this beautiful place.
