We arrived around 9am since we had a tour booked (they last about 2 hours) and we were greeted by a girl Nela who was our guide.
The place is too cool, it is a glass building on stilts with a panoramic view of Copey and its plantations.
We started the tour by watching a video about the history of the farm and how they got to where they are now… Afterwards we walked to the Uchuvas plantation where Nela explained to us about this superfood from which they make liquor.
Then we continued to the greenhouses with vineyards where they explained to us about the challenges they have had during these 15 years of constant evolution.
Finally, we visited the cellars where they have the barrels where they store the wine and we closed with the tasting of their liquors, which was too cool.
Sitting at the bar, each one had 5 glasses with different mouthfuls that matched each wine that they were going to give us… First a white wine, then the one from the Copey estate (Tico pride) and then another 2 reds that were also very tasty. .
At the very end they gave us the rockstar of the place called Golden Rush, it is the first liquor made from cape gooseberry with a sweet and delicious flavor… it also works as a digestive and it was really spectacular.
Copey State Winery definitely surprised us, it is a beautiful place where you learn and live the total experience of a vineyard and its process to reach the table.
