Turn off the TV (computer, tablet, cell, whatever) and go for a walk with the little ones. School vacations are coming and we don’t know what to do with all the energy the kids have. Take them for a walk, go for a hike in the forest, explore nature, ride a horse, paddle in a pond, get lost in a labyrinth, splash in a river and have experiences that you will never forget.

Río Agrio
This one is an adventure, you get to walk in the middle of the rain forest, cross the river to reach a very spectacular waterfall and if you want to add on to this, you can go to the celestial pools.

This farm looks like something out of a fairy tale and it is ideal to go with family, have a picnic, walk in the woods for a while, ride a horse, ride a boat in the lake. They only open Sundays.

Laguna Manuel
A beautiful country estate in Santa María de Dota, with a lake, trails, camping area, and picnic tables.

U Paz
Very near San José, It has walking trails, a labyrinth, picnic huts and lots of green areas for children to run around.

El Paraíso Waterfall
A coffee farm in the process of becoming a natural attraction in the area. This is how an entire family decided to open their doors to the public. This place has it all, a river, a waterfall, natural pool, waterslide, and picnic areas. Great to spend an excellent day outdoors.

Finca Libertad Pura
This farm is in the mountains of San Ramón, it has very spectacular views, there are cows, horses, a buffalo, and cartons to slide downhill. Totally worth it!

Loro River
This place is a perfect little forest to get out of the routine with the family less than 20 km from our capital, it has trails, picnic tables, play area, and even an open serpentarium. Meet the BBB, good, nice and cheap!

Las Piedritas
An epic paddock overlooking the mountains and the sea without leaving the capital is a reality that can be enjoyed near Santa Ana … So pack a kite, cardboard to slide down, picnic tablecloth and enjoy.

Finca La Lucha
It is a dream town, located in the middle of the Cerro de la Muerte. It has a lovely little lake, where they rent boats for paddling, there are trails and ideal places to picnic. And if you want to venture, even more, you can go camping.

Irazu volcano
A classic one of all times, the famous Irazú Volcano, which once again has a lagoon. The whole way to the volcano is entertaining with its vegetation, drinking hot cocoa, and then stop at a typical restaurant or do a picnic in a pasture somewhere on the road back.
