Puriscal always looks good and we went to a beautiful farm in the mountains of Puriscal where you can enjoy 6 wonders. From the Guatuso cross with an incredible view to a perfect waterfall to cool off. A perfect plan for those who like to hike. 

How to get there? Head towards Puriscal, from there on the way to Piedades and arriving at the town, turn left into Calle Piedades until the very end.

About 5 years ago we began to visit this farm but at that time everything was not so set up and beautiful. So we decided to return to update this blog and enjoy this spectacular place.

We left Santa Ana at around 7:30 in the morning and in 45 minutes we were arriving at the place. If you go by car, leave the car in a lot/parking 1 km from the official entrance of the farm and If it´s a 4×4 then go to the end. They can also coordinate with the people of the farm so that they can pick them up.

We arrived and at the ranch we were received by the owner and his family who are one of those people who are so nice and who make you feel at home. They gave us a short explanation and we were eager to start the walk.

The farm is called the 6 wonders because it has 6 very beautiful places to see, which are the stone bridge, the Cruz de Guatuso, the Piedron, the Cueva del Tigre, the waterfall and the Jabillo pools. We did 3 of those 6 because they told us the pools were chocolatey from the rains and the truth is that we did not take the path that led to the Piedra del Tigre and the Piedrón. 

But hey, we started the walk and there the trails are very well marked so it's quite simple. We were with 4 dogs who were very happy, because this place is perfect for them to run non-stop.

The first stop after 750 meters is the Stone Bridge, you deviate a bit from the road and find a very beautiful cave, and since we are in rainy season, the river gave it a special touch. It is a giant stone that makes a natural bridge at the top of the path. We took some photos and the headed to next spot, the Cruz de Guatuso.

We followed the road about 1 km away, and reached the Cross that has an incredible view, you can even see the sea. The detail is that you have to climb quite a bit to reach some very nice but very steep paddocks. We had a sunny morning so the heat made the road harder. But like any challenge, it is worth it in the end, we reached the cross and the view, the photos and the drone shots were great. We stayed there for a while, ate some snacks and continued to the next stop, the waterfall.

The other detail is that we were at the highest point of the farm and we had to go to the lowest point of the farm. The descent is about 2 km more, almost without shade but with beautiful pastures on the way. The descent took forever because of the heat. But we got to the waterfall that has a refreshing pool, so of course we went into the water to cool off and it was delicious. There we finished eating everything we had, we stayed for a while enjoying ourselves and then returned to the ranch for a delicious lunch that was waiting for us.

We are not going to lie to you, the return climb is hard and feels to last forever. Fortunately it got cloudy so it was more bearable but it is quite hard. It is 3.2km to the ranch. After 1:15 we arrived starving. Luckily the food there is delicious and they were waiting for us with some delicious ¨casados¨ ​​and the richest fresh lemon with sour orange in the world.    This place is worth visiting for the hike, views and food and honestly it is quite close to San José.
