Aside from its paradisiacal beaches, the south Caribbean part of the country hides natural wonders such as the Bribri and Volio waterfalls, which are right next to Puerto Viejo and Cahuita.

We arrived late to spend the night at Hone Creek to make the most of the next day since the plan was to see 2 waterfalls in the area.

We woke up and had breakfast, a couple of eggs with tortillas and we were ready to go to the first waterfall called Bribri. The road to get there is super easy, just follow the street to Sixaola about 20 minutes after passing a bridge there is a sign that says waterfall where you pay and leave the car.

We prepared the things that we were going to take to the waterfall and started going down the path ... less than 10 minutes had passed when we reached the waterfall below. The place is super cool, it’s a combo of 2 waterfalls surrounded by jungle with the advantage that it has fairly simple access, in addition, you can see the bridge that passes over the highest part of the waterfall.

It is awesome to see nature and the artificial structures fused in places, the same as the river in La Fortuna, and we really love it.

After visiting this waterfall we went to see the other one that is even closer to the border with Panama ... with all the chaos of us getting lost and whatnot, we lasted perhaps half an hour arriving and it also started to rain. The access is a dirt road that then becomes a road a little more suitable for a 4 × 4 vehicle so if you are driving there is a parking lot before the first river with a sign.

After crossing the river it’s about 500m until you reach the path that leads to the waterfall. We put our condition to the test and our adventurous instinct with this hike (which sometimes I think is escaping me) since it is not labeled at all because this place is free and all natural. So you walk down until you get to a "Y" of 2 rivers ... here you have to cross the one that is in front of you and continue on the left side of the river that comes from the right.

After about 200 meters of going upstream, we managed to reach the base of the Volio waterfall ... simply spectacular, the waterfalls from a very high stone. This one doesn’t have a pool, like the Bribri, but it is still much more virgin and exotic.
